BOND HAS CAREER DAY DURING NORTHEAST’S WEEKEND IN KANSAS

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was in Overland Park, Kansas over the weekend to compete against Lincoln Land Community College, Fort Scott Community College and No. 5 Johnson County Community College. The Hawks fell to Lincoln Land by a final score of 3-1, swept Fort Scott 3-0 and dropped the match to Johnson County by a final score of 3-0.

Northeast (5-12, 3-2 ICCAC) freshman Mckenna Jones (Yutan, Neb.) put together another solid weekend as she recorded 49 assists throughout the three matches. In the Hawks victory against Fort Scott, freshman Nicole Bond (Red Oak, Iowa) also rose to the occasion with 10 digs, which was her highest single-game total through this point in the season.

On Wednesday, Northeast will host Iowa Lakes Community College at 6:30 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk in what will be a crucial match for the conference standings.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on the contest against Lincoln Land:

"We played really well that second set," Schultze said. "We have to focus on staying in the game and we need to have a next ball mentality."

Schultze on the two days as a whole:

"Overall, a good weekend," Schultze said. "We played really well against Fort Scott. Johnson County is a tough team to beat, and we need to continue to work hard through those types of matches and let them make us better."
