LATE RALLY COMES UP JUST SHORT FOR NORTHEAST AGAINST NO. 15 IOWA CENTRAL

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team was back home at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk Tuesday for a single game against No. 15 Iowa Central Community College. The Hawks fell in the contest by a final score of 8-7.

Northeast (20-14, 3-2 ICCAC) was led on the day on offense by Brady Fitzptrick (Bellevue, Neb.) as the sophomore continued his hot streak of late on the day he was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week. Fitzpatrick blasted a homer, recorded a triple and tallied three RBISs throughout the afternoon.

The Hawks trailed 8-3 entering the ninth inning, but Taccarri Brown (Wichita, Kan.) and Fitzpatrick drove in runs to bring Northeast within one run. The comeback fell just short as the Hawks will now turn the page to a three-game series with Ellsworth Community College this weekend at home.

Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on the ballgame against No. 15 Iowa Central:

"We didn't make the routine plays in the infield and that cost us four runs," Clapp said. "We didn't make any adjustments or show signs of our offense until the seventh inning. Hard to win games with all that."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will stay home and will take on Ellsworth Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
