HERNANDEZ HOMERS AS NINE PITCHERS THROW AN INNING FOR HAWKS THURSDAY

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team returned to Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk Thursday afternoon as they played host to Briar Cliff University JV. The Hawks took the contest by a final score of 14-8.

Northeast (13-9) sent nine different pitchers out to the mound in the showdown as the Hawks were able to get a number of different guys work throughout the day. Edgar Hernandez (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) blasted a homer and recorded three RBIs in the matchup while Chris Lundeen Jr. (Westminster, Colo.) recorded three RBIs of his own. Ethan Cole (Omaha, Neb.) struck out three batters in just one inning of work.

Next week's schedule for Northeast has shifted as the Hawks will have the weekend off before battling Miles Community College twice on Wednesday and twice on Thursday at home.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on the day against the Chargers:

"We won, and that's the main thing," Clapp said. We got a lot of guys in that haven't been playing as much, and that was my main focus today. We settled in, came back and took control."

Clapp on the weekend off ahead before a big week upcoming:

"It looks like we'll be inside this weekend, and we will do what we can to get ready for a big week," Clapp said. "We have seven games in four days upcoming, which will be a lot, but we'll go to work."

The Hawks will welcome Miles Community College to town with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk.
