NORTHEAST CAPTURES FIFTH-STRAIGHT VICTORY IN CONFERENCE PLAY WEDNESDAY IN IOWA FALLS

IOWA FALLS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was on the road Wednesday night for a conference battle against Ellsworth Community College. The Hawks swept the Panthers by a final score of 3-0 to remain in sole possession of third place in the ICCAC standings.

Northeast (12-15, 7-2 ICCAC) was led in kills by Alli Brown (Wakefield, Neb.) with 13 as they completed the road victory by set scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-21. Katie Borg (Wakefield, Neb.) tallied two ace serves and 13 digs in what was the fifth-straight win for the Hawks in conference play, a streak than spans a month dating back to September 16 against Southeastern Community College.

On Friday, Northeast will battle Highland Community College before gearing up for their final three ICCAC matches of the regular season.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on the conference sweep against Ellsworth:

"I was proud of how we continued to play our game, worked through our struggles and overcame them," Schultze said. "We struggled in some areas that we are usually strong in, and we were able to push through. Ellsworth is always a tough place to play and I'm proud of the girls for finishing."

The Hawks will take on Highland Community College at 2 p.m. Friday in Columbus, Nebraska on the campus of Central Community College.
