HAWKS VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NORTHEAST TOURNAMENT

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team competed in four different games on two different days this weekend at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk during the Northeast Tournament. The weekend was without a doubt a successful one as the Hawks claimed four victories to sweep the event.

Game 1 saw the Hawks (4-3) take on Allen Community College in a matchup that would eventually go four sets, with the Hawks taking the win 3-1. The Hawks took the first set 25-22, and the second set 25-17 before the Red Devils took set three 25-19. The Hawks went on to win set four 25-23 to claim their first victory of the season.

In Game 2 the Hawks secured their first sweep of the season as they defeated Southeast Community College by A final score of 25-19 in set one, 25-22 in set two and 25-17 in set three.

Sweeps would become a theme as Northeast opened the second day of the tournament with a 25-10 set one victory over North Iowa Area Community College, a 25-10 set two win and a 25-22 final set to complete the game.

The final showdown of the two days came against Mount Marty University JV and the Hawks took victories by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-23.

Head volleyball coach Amanda Schultze on her team during the four days:

"The girls played great," Schultze said. "They didn't get frustrated. They kept going. I felt like they played hard."

Schultze on what she wants to see from her team before Wednesday:

"Keep working hard in practice," Schultze said. "We have some things to work on after this weekend, and we can start watching some game film."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will be home again next as they will battle with Iowa Central Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
