Northeast volleyball grabs two wins on Wednesday night

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team hosted the Northeast Triangular on Wednesday and came away with two wins at the Cox Activities Center.

The Hawks (7-17, 3-3 ICCAC) defeated North Iowa Area Community College in an ICCAC match, 25-16, 25-21 and 25-14. In the final match of the evening, the Hawks came away with a five-set victory over North Platte Community College, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 19-25 and 15-13.

In the first match, Danielle Wadsworth (Wolbach, Neb.) tallied nine kills and 10 digs. Lauren Kavan (Cedar Bluffs, Neb.) had six kills and 10 digs. Edyn Sudbeck (Wynot, Neb.) had 24 assists, while Rachel Ecklund (Overton, Neb.) added 12 digs, four kills and three blocks.

Ecklund the Hawks' offensive attack against the Knights with 18 kills and 15 digs. Kavan recorded 11 kills, while Wadsworth had 10 and 23 digs. Sudbeck notched 44 assists and 16 digs, while Elizabeth Christensen (Stanton, Neb.) pitched in 28 digs.

The Hawks compete in the Ramanda Inn Classic on Friday and Saturday, taking on Fort Scott Community College at 5 p.m. and Marshalltown Community College at 7 p.m. Friday. Northeast will battle Neosho County Community College at 11 a.m. Saturday in Columbus, Neb.
