Northeast volleyball falls to Williston, snags win over Southeast

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team couldn't rebound after taking the first set over Williston State College, falling in four sets, 25-18, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-14. The Hawks (2-4) were able to top Southeast Community College in four sets, 26-24, 25-15, 26-24 and 26-24 on Friday at the Northeast Volleyball Tournament at the Cox Activities in Norfolk.

In the loss to Williston, Dani Wadsworth (Wolbach, Neb.) tallied 13 kills and 20 digs. Edyn Sudbeck (Wynot, Neb.) had 31 assists and 10 digs, while Alexis Kapales (Jonesboro, Ark.) added 25 digs. Lauren Kavan (Cedar Bluffs, Neb.) recorded 17 digs and Elizabeth Christensen (Stanton, Neb.) pitched in 14.

In the win over the Storm, Rachel Ecklund (Overton, Neb.) tallied a team-high 20 kills. Wadsworth had 10 kills and 26 digs. Subdeck added 42 assists and 18 digs, while Kapales had 23 digs. Naomi Simones (Murray, Neb.) contributed 16 digs.

The Hawks square off with North Platte Community College at 3 p.m. and McCook Community College at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Norfolk.
