Hawks tabbed No. 17 in NJCAA DII Volleyball Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coming off their fourth-straight national tournament appearance, the Northeast Community College volleyball team was picked No. 17 in the latest NJCAA DII Volleyball Preseason Poll, it was announced by the NJCAA on Tuesday.

The Hawks finished the 2019 season with a 22-18 overall record and a 7-2 ICCAC record. Northeast defeated North Iowa Area Community College in a five-set thriller to make a return trip to the NJCAA DII Volleyball National Tournament last season in Charleston, W.V.

The Hawks return three sophomores, Jamie Bonifas (Blue Hill, Neb.), Elizabeth Christensen (Stanton, Neb.) and Carly Hirsch (Norfolk, Neb.) to help guide the young Northeast squad throughout the 2021 season.

Northeast begins the 2021 season in an ICCAC match against Marshalltown Community College at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
