Northeast volleyball drops two matches in Council Bluffs

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team (14-14, 5-1 ICCAC) was unable to pick-up two victories on Friday, falling to Colby Community College in five sets and Mineral Area College in four sets at the Reiver Festival Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Set scores against Colby were, 16-25, 25-21, 25-23, 23-25 and 13-15, while set scores against Mineral Area were, 20-25, 30-28, 23-25 and 24-26.

Brianna Bauer (O'Neill, Neb.) led the Hawks with 13 kills in the loss to Colby. Jamie Bonifas (Blue Hill, Neb.) had 31 assists and Josie Sanger (Crofton, Neb.) added 24 digs.

In the final match of the night, Elley Beaver (Columbus, Neb.) tallied 13 kills and 16 digs. MaKayla Davidson (Alliance, Neb.) recorded 26 assists, 12 digs and seven kills, while Sanger had 24 digs.

The Hawks return to conference play when they host Southwestern Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
