NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's soccer team hosted No. 16 Iowa Central Community College Tuesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk in the semifinals of the Region 11 Tournament. The Hawks took down the Tritons by a final score of 2-0 to advance to the championship game of the tournament on Saturday.
Northeast (9-8-2, 6-1-1 ICCAC) and Iowa Central entered the halftime break tied at 0-0, but sophomore Amelia Bingley (Melbourne, Australia) exploded in the second half as she put in two different goals that became the difference in the contest. With the victory, the Hawks will appear in the Region 11 Tournament Championship for the fifth time in the last six years, and in each of their previous four appearances Northeast was on the winning end of the title match.
No. 1 seed Iowa Lakes Community College and No. 4 seed Hawkeye Community College will compete at 1 p.m. tomorrow to see who the Hawks will battle against for the conference trophy on Saturday. If Iowa Lakes win the match, Northeast will hit the road and will take on the Lakers Saturday in Spencer, Iowa, but if the RedTails triumph, the Hawks will host Hawkeye Saturday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
STAT SHEET:

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Women's Soccer Coach Chad Miller on taking down No. 16 Iowa Central:
"The big thing in the second half was regaining our composure and playing our game," Miller said. "Iowa Central did a really good job of pressing us and getting us out of our game late in that first half and we got a little uncomposed. At halftime, it was all about getting our composure back and playing our game. The girls did a great job of doing that in the second half."
Miller on what it means to get back to the Region 11 Tournament Championship:
"The biggest thing is getting back to the title game," Miller said. "We have tough teams in our region now, and being able to get back to the championship is big. The tough schedule we've played and everything the girls have had to go through to get to this point makes me really proud of them. It shows a lot of who they are to get to the championship game."
