HAWKS SCORE EIGHT IN VICTORY DURING FIRST ROUND OF REGION 11 TOURNAMENT

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's soccer team was back home at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk Saturday for the first round of the Region 11 Tournament against Dakota County Technical College. The Hawks were victorious in the match by a final score of 8-0 to advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Northeast (8-8-2, 6-1-1 ICCAC) was able to score their second mercy-rule victory of the season as the Hawks were able to score their eighth goal with 17 minutes left in the showdown originally scheduled for 90 minutes. Northeast will now take on No. 16 Iowa Central Community College in the semifinals of the tournament at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Norfolk. The Hawks took down the Tritons by a final score of 6-0 in the regular season back on September 20.

Head Women's Soccer Chad Miller on how the day played out:

"It went pretty well today for us," Miller said. "That was the best Dakota County team that I've ever seen, and they do some things that I thought would give us a bit of a tough go, but our team figured it out and came through, which was great to see."

Miller on battling No. 16 Iowa Central for the second time this season next:

"Just being at home is great," Miller said. "Yes, we played them once already, but to me that's history and that's long gone. It's a completely different game now. Being at home is the most we can ask for, so hopefully we'll come in and be ready to go."

The Hawks will host No. 16 Iowa Central at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk in the semifinals of the Region 11 Tournament.
