NORTHEAST TOPS SOUTHEASTERN WITH 84TH-MINUTE GOAL FROM OSILKA

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's soccer team hosted Southeastern Community College Saturday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk in a conference contest. The Hawks took the matchup by a final score of 1-0 to move to third in the ICCAC standings. 

Northeast (4-7-2, 3-1-1 ICCAC) and the Blackhawks fought wind gusts of up to 35 mph throughout the match in what became a defensive battle. Addison Osilka (Fort Collins, Colo.) found the back of the net with an unassisted goal in the 84th minute to put the Hawks ahead for good in the showdown as Northeast will have a bye this week before getting ready for their final three conference games of the regular season.

Head Women's Coach Chad Miller on his team pulling out the victory Saturday:

"The didn't quit," Miller said. "They kept going. Even when things were rough, they kept in the fight and stayed in it. There was always the feeling that we were going to score, but it was just a matter of when and hopefully it was before the buzzer went off. I was glad that we were able to pull it off."

Miller on how he wants to use the bye week before going into the final stretch of the regular season:

"It's two-fold," Miller said. "Some of our players need to use this week to recover and we also get to have a few practices in before playing next Saturday. We get to have some recovery and then we need to have a couple of good practices. We'll balance that out."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will compete with NJCAA DI No. 8 Indian Hills Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Ottumwa, Iowa.
