Pedroza guides Hawks to shutout over Southeastern

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – Sara Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) helped the Northeast Community College women's soccer team to a 4-0 win on Sunday over Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa.
Pedroza tallied two goals in the first 45 minutes to give the Hawks (7-5, 2-1 ICCAC) a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kyler Bowman (Topeka, Kan.) found the back of the net in the 82nd-minute, followed by a goal from Frida Aguilar-Ximello (Boulder, Colo.) in final minutes of the match.
Northeast outshot the Blackhawks, 14-8. Carolin Stahlmann (Ahrensburg, Germany) had six saves.
"Our shape was much better today than in the past few games," head coach Chad Miller said. "We seemed to play a little more settled in. In the second half, I was very happy with how we were finding space on the field to play in to."
The Hawks visit Hawkeye Community College at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Waterloo, Iowa.
