JONES EXPLODES FOR 35 POINTS AND 19 REBOUNDS FOR HAWKS AGAINST REIVERS

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team was back at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk Wednesday night for a conference showdown with Iowa Western Community College. The Hawks fell in the conference showdown in overtime by a final score of 92-84.

Northeast (7-4, 2-3 ICCAC) was led in scoring by Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) as the sophomore was dominant as she tallied 35 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for a double-double in the contest. The Hawks trailed by eight points in the third quarter but rallied back to force overtime with the Reivers. Lexi Wiebelhaus (Croston, Neb.) and Vilique Fallis (Rapid City, S.D.) both recorded 11 points as Northeast has just one matchup left at home during the fall semester as they will take on Marshalltown Community College Saturday.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on the night against Iowa Western:

"At the end of the fourth quarter I liked how we battled and got the game to overtime," Svehla said. "It was anyone's ballgame, but in overtime they made the shots and got the stops and we did not. A lack of rebounding hurt us down the stretch. We have to execute, but we'll get ready for the next one Saturday against an athletic Marshalltown team."

The Hawks will take on Marshalltown Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
