WIEDERIN AND JONES COMBINE FOR 51 POINTS IN NORTHEAST VICTORY AGAINST CENTRAL

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team was back at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk Saturday to finish their season series with Central Community College. The Hawks were victorious by a final score of 91-65 to secure their fourth-straight win.

Northeast (13-3, 5-2 ICCAC) were led again by their two leading scorers throughout the season as Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, Neb.) had a game-high 28 points while Mia Wiederin (Norfolk, Neb.) trailed closely behind with 23 points. Vilique Fallis (Rapid City, S.D.) added 15 points off the bench in 21 minutes as the Hawks will now return to conference play again this week.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on the victory over the Raiders:

"We had a little bit of a sluggish first quarter and got going a little bit more in the second," Svehla said. "Our percentages in the second half were really good. When you are shooting over 60-percent from the field, you are shooting the ball really well. That's a good sign. Good to see some different people play well."

Svehla on looking ahead to the matchup with Iowa Central on Wednesday night:

"It's a conference game," Svehla said. "They all are important. We have to be ready to play. We'll get back into practice and work on things that we need to get better at."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will stay at home and will host Iowa Central Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
