RICHARDS EARNS FIRST TEAM ALL-REGION HONORS FOR SECOND TIME AT NORTHEAST

AMES, Iowa – Northeast Community College women's basketball sophomore Allison Richards (Pine Ridge, S.D.) was named First Team All-Region for the second time during her career, it was announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Monday.

Richards led the entire conference in scoring as she averaged 23.9 points per game. The guard shot 40.8-percent from the field, 38.8-percent from the three and 79.1-percent from the free-throw line. Richards averaged 26.1 minutes per game, which ranked second in the conference. There were five different instances where the sophomore tallied 30 or more points, including 35 points against Southeast Community College at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk on November 7.

During the 2022-23 season, Richards totaled 288 points and came back in 2023-24 to put in 675 points for the Hawks. Richards was in full control of the Northeast offense throughout the year and grabbed 118 rebounds while tallying 48 assists during the campaign.

Northeast head women's basketball coach Matt Svehla can't thank Richards enough for all that she contributed to his program.

"Allie has been a great player for us in two different seasons," Svehla said. "Good leader. She puts in a ton of work on a daily basis and it's good to see her get rewarded for that. Shooting 40-percent from three when you are marked and big on everyone's scouting report is really impressive. We are going to miss her and congrats to her on a great season."
