RICHARDS LEADS HAWKS WITH 19 POINTS IN DEFEAT SATURDAY

KEOKUK, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team traveled east to Keokuk, Iowa Saturday for a battle with Southeastern Community College. The Hawks dropped the conference contest by a final score of 58-57.

Northeast (12-16, 8-11 ICCAC) led 36-26 at halftime and were in full control of the showdown most of the way until the Blackhawks put together a rally late. Allison Richards (Pine Ridge, S.D.) led the way for the Hawks as she has many times this season with 19 points and four rebounds. Sharissa Hass (Pine Ridge, S.D.) contributed 15 points, including a 3-pointer right as time expired, but it wasn't enough for Northeast as they fell just one point short in the matchup.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on the afternoon:

"Give Southeastern credit," Svehla said. "They outworked us and they outplayed us. Disappointing performance on our part."

Svehla on the regular-season finale and Sophomore Night next:

"Our sophomores have contributed a lot to our program during their time at Northeast, so hopefully we can play better in our last home game on Wednesday," Svehla said.

The Hawks complete the regular season against Southwestern Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. Sophomores Allison Richards (Pine Ride, S.D.), Angie Davis (Bingham, Neb.) and Sharissa Haas (Pine Ridge, S.D.) will be honored as part of Sophomore Night.
