BEATRICE, Neb. – Sophomore Teagan Pompa (Elgin, Ill.) had one of her best nights in a Hawks uniform on Wednesday for the Northeast Community College women's basketball team.
The sharp-shooting threat recorded 31 points as the Hawks dismantled Southeast Community College 86-59 in non-conference play in Beatrice, Neb.
The Hawks (14-10, 1-2 ICCAC) managed to tally 32 points before the break, holding the Storm to 18 points and just five points in the second quarter. Northeast went on to score more than 25 points in the remaining quarters to keep Southeast out of rhythm.
Pompa lit up the scoreboard, going 10-of-13 from the field, including nine 3-pointers, seven rebounds and two assists. Irene Sanz (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) added 17 points, seven boards, four assists, four blocks and three steals.
The Hawks shot 43 percent from the field and a blistering 53 percent from three-point land.
Northeast squares off with Highway 81-rival Central Community College at 5 p.m., Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
