AHLEMEYER AND RABURN COME UP BIG FOR NORTHEAST IN SPLIT WITH CENTRAL
COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team made the short trip to Columbus, Nebraska Wednesday for a conference doubleheader with Central Community College. The Hawks took Game 1 by a final score of 6-3 before falling in Game 2, 6-2.

COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team made the short trip to Columbus, Nebraska Wednesday for a conference doubleheader with Central Community College. The Hawks took Game 1 by a final score of 6-3 before falling in Game 2, 6-2.
Northeast (12-31, 4-16 ICCAC) got on the board first in Game 1 as Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) singled to drive in a run in what was one of her four hits in the contest. Ahlemeyer recorded three RBIs in the showdown while Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) went the distance in the circle and tallied five strikeouts.
Amy Lauby (Fairmont, Neb.) allowed just two earned runs as the starting pitcher for the Hawks in Game 2 and Amayah Gaston (Albertville, Minn.) stayed hot at the plate with a double and a single. Northeast will return home for a homestand this weekend, hosting No. 1 Kirkwood Community College on Saturday and then battling Hawkeye Community College on Sunday.

Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the big victory in Game 1 and returning home Saturday:
"Game 1 we showed what we can do," Sharpe said. "It's there, we just have to make it consistent. I'm ready to be in our own beds and have a sense of normalcy."

The Hawks will take on No. 1 Kirkwood Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
