SUCCESSFUL SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE FOR HAWKS SATURDAY

FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team was back in Fort Dodge, Iowa Saturday for a win-or-go-home showdown against Ellsworth Community College. The Hawks fell by a final score of 8-6 as their successful season has now come to a close.

Northeast (21-36, 8-20 ICCAC) got on the board first in the matchup as Kaia Kollmar (Norfolk, Neb.) and Delaney Kruse (Wayne, Neb.) both scored on an error in the bottom of the first inning. Amy Lauby (Fairmont, Neb.) and Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) both tossed innings in the circle while Tiarna Law (Queensland, Australia), Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) and Talia Bandt (Grand Island, Neb.) all picked up RBIs in the contest.

The Hawks led 6-4 entering the sixth inning, but three runs in the sixth and an extra one in the seventh were too much to overcome for Northeast. The Hawks broke multiple records this season and will look ahead to an exciting group of returners back on the squad next year.

Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the game and what she will remember about this group:

"They fought for each other until the end of the game," Sharpe said. "We set a foundation to grow off of this year. There were a lot of ups and downs, and I think each girl came out as a better athlete and person at the end of the year."
