PUREWAL PUNCHES IN TWO AS NO. 7 NORTHEAST STAYS UNBEATEN

ELGIN, Ill.  – The No. 7 Northeast Community College men's soccer team was on the road once again Friday for a duel with Elgin Community College. The Hawks claimed a resounding 5-0 victory in the bout to stay unbeaten during the campaign.

Northeast (3-0) scored early and often in the matchup as goals from Edouard Nys (Dottignies, Belgium) and Jeevan Purewal (Wolverhampton, England) put the Hawks ahead 2-0 after only nine minutes. Victor Hidalgo (Valladolid, Spain) and Sergio Aznar (Zaragoza, Spain) put the score at 4-0 before halftime as the Hawks stacked another win in the still young campaign.

Assistant Men's Soccer Coach Felipe Santos on what it says about his team that they have kept stacking road wins:

"Resilience and work," Santos said. "Those are two words for us. The boys are locked in, and I feel like we are going in the right direction. There are some things to improve, but the boys are responding well game by game. We can't wait to finally play at home in front of our community against an important opponent."

Santos on playing at home for the first time this season Sunday night:

"The team and I are extremely excited about this game," Santos said. "We have been playing road games since the beginning of the season, but there is nothing like being at home. We are counting down the hours to play on Sunday night."

The Hawks will finally play at home in their next showdown in a huge clash with Central Community College at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field.
