Northeast men’s soccer advances to Region XI semifinals
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men’s soccer team blanked Dakota County Technical College on Wednesday afternoon, 3-0 in the first round of the Region XI Tournament at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's soccer team blanked Dakota County Technical College on Wednesday afternoon, 3-0 in the first round of the Region XI Tournament at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
Breno Neves (Brasilia, Brazil) put the first two goals on the scoreboard for the Hawks (7-7, 7-7 ICCAC) in the first half. Hugo Santos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) later sailed a goal into the back of the net in the 52nd-minute to keep the Blue Knights at bay.
The Hawks outshot DCTC, 14-2. Santos tallied three shots on goal, while Neves had two and Cael Wiederin (Norfolk, Neb.), Riley Carlson (Norfolk, Neb.) and David Evans Jr. (Lakewood, Colo.) each had one.
The Hawks battle Hawkeye Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Region XI semifinals in Waterloo, Iowa.
