SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The No. 10 Northeast Community College men's golf team competed at the North Central District Tournament Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa. Freshman Bryson Parker (Turpin, Okla.) won the three-day event by nine strokes over the entire field while the Hawks finished second as a team and have officially qualified for the national tournament.

Parker held a three-shot lead entering the third round Tuesday after a blistering score of 68 Monday and performed even better on Tuesday with a tournament-best score of 66. Ty Heimes won the tournament as an individual in 2022, Santiago Valdes won in 2023 and now Parker has captured the victory in 2025 to give the Hawks an individual winner in three of the last four seasons. Parker started Round 3 by making a 20-foot putt for birdie never lifted his foot off the gas from there as he finished his round with six birdies and an eagle. His three-day scores were 72, 68 and 66.

As a team, Tyler Baumchen (Topeka, Kan.) joined Parker in the top five as he finished in a tie for third place with scores of 75, 68 and 74. Luke Bonser (Durham, England) was as consistent as they come as he carded a score of 73 on all three days. Northeast finished the event just three strokes behind eventual winner No. 6 Kirkwood Community College.

The Hawks have now qualified for the national tournament as a team for the first time since 2022 and will compete at the 2025 NJCAA DII Men's Golf Championship from May 20-23 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
