NORTHEAST HEAD MEN’S GOLF COACH WES BERNT RESIGNS TO TAKE NEW POSITION

NORFOLK, Neb. – Northeast Community College head men's golf coach Wes Bernt has been named the head men's golf at Creighton University, it was announced today.

Bernt was named head coach in March of 2021, and his two seasons at the helm of the Hawks were successful ones. The men's golf team made it to the NJCAA DII Men's Golf National Tournament last season, along with a handful of first-place finishes at fall and spring tournaments. The Hawks also won the Region XI District Championship in 2022, while Santiago Valdes (Mexico City, Mexico) was named an NJCAA DII All-American while under the direction of Bernt.

"I want to thank Director of Athletics Jerrett Mills, Vice President of Student Services Amanda Nipp, President Dr. Leah Barrett and all of Northeast for the opportunity to coach the last two seasons," Bernt said. "Northeast is a special place, and I will truly cherish the time that I've spent here. I am grateful for the coaches, staff and players that have helped me along the way. I wish Northeast the best of luck going forward."

Northeast Director of Athletics Jerrett Mills is grateful for what Bernt put in to better the men's golf program.

"I would like to thank Coach Bernt for all of his efforts and dedication to the Northeast men's golf team the past two years," Mills said. "In less than two years, the men's golf team has reached unparalleled success, including a trip to the NJCAA DII Men's Golf National Tournament last season. I wish Coach Bernt and his family the best of luck on their next adventure and opportunity at Creighton University."

A national search for the next head men's golf coach will begin immediately.
