NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball hosted Western Iowa Tech Community College Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk for a conference showdown on Sophomore Day. The Hawks topped the Comets in the matchup by a final score of 89-80 for their third victory in the last four games.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's basketball hosted Western Iowa Tech Community College Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk for a conference showdown on Sophomore Day. The Hawks topped the Comets in the matchup by a final score of 89-80 for their third victory in the last four games.
Northeast (13-12, 9-10 ICCAC) trailed by nine points at the halftime break but quickly put together a 13-0 run out of the locker room to take a lead they never looked back from. Sophomores Sunny Singh (Queens, N.Y.), Jonasz Piskorski (Sandomierz, Poland), Easton Sullivan (Norfolk, Neb.), Scottie Johnson (Denton, Texas) and Rhett Kloth (Dell Rapids, S.D.) were honored as part of Sophomore Day and Singh put together his biggest offensive outing of the year in the contest as he recorded 25 points.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on picking up the victory:
"We had to wake ourselves up a bit after the first half," Clark said. "They affected us on the defensive end. We adjusted and in the second half we ran our offense exactly how we needed to. We beat them on the boards, which helped us in transition. Sunny came up big and played well."
Clark on finishing the regular season strong on Wednesday:
"Iowa Western is tough," Clark said. "A good win will lead us into where we need to sit in the conference."

The Hawks will return to the road and will take on No. 24 Iowa Western Community College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
