SINGH HAS 23 POINTS FOR NORTHEAST AGAINST DMACC WEDNESDAY

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team welcomed No. 2 Des Moines Area Community College to the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk Wednesday night. The Hawks fell in the showdown by a final score of 105-88. 

Northeast (12-12, 8-10 ICCAC) led by four halfway through the first half and continued to battle all night with the Bears squad who currently remains undefeated in conference play. All five starters for the Hawks were in double figures as Sunny Singh (Queens, N.Y.) led the way with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Saturday will mark the final contest at home for the Hawks as sophomores Singh, Jonasz Piskorski (Sandomierz, Poland) and Scottie Johnson (Denton, Texas) will be honored as part of Sophomore Day.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on the night against the No. 2 Bears:

"Coming off a big win at Kirkwood, we knew what we had to do," Clark said. "We needed to execute defensively and rebound. There were stretches late where they went on big runs, but I'm proud of the guys for not giving up. We got down but still kept fighting against one of the best team in the country."

Clark on what his sophomores have meant to him with Sophomore Day next:

"The sophomores came in and worked hard," Clark said. "This year, they really have made a difference in our team and culture have pushed the program forward. I'm proud of them and all of their accomplishments."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will battle Western Iowa Tech Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk as part of Sophomore Day.
