NORTHEAST TAKES UNDEFEATED NO. 18 IOWA WESTERN TO THE BRINK WEDNESDAY NIGHT

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team welcomed No. 18 Iowa Western Community College to the Cox Activities Center Wednesday night for an ICCAC matchup. The Hawks dropped the contest to the undefeated Reivers by a final score of 84-79.

Northeast (6-5, 2-3 ICCAC) held strong against Iowa Western in the showdown as the Hawks rallied from down 14 at the beginning of the second half to retake the lead with a strong performance from their bench unit. Johanes Piscikas (Lakeville, Minn.) led the Northeast in scoring with 21 points as the Hawks will take on another ranked team next in the form of No. 7 Des Moines Area Community College next on Monday night in Boone, Iowa.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on the Northeast bench stepping up tonight:

"Our bench came in and they were ready," Clark said. "They were the spark that we needed, and they were the difference tonight. That 14-point lead could've easily been 20. I was proud of the bench to get us back in it. We're young, but we're not backing down, and we need to get back to work."

Clark on battling No. 7 DMACC next:

"They have No. 1 Ellsworth on Saturday and then they'll be ready to go in their house on Monday night," Clark said. "Our guys will be ready too, and we'll need to play hard and together."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will have the weekend off before taking on No. 7 Des Moines Community College at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Boone, Iowa.
