HUSTON AND GREEN HELP LIFT NORTHEAST OFF THE BENCH WEDNESDAY IN VICTORY OVER IOWA LAKES

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team was in Estherville, Iowa Wednesday night for a duel with Iowa Lakes Community College. The Hawks grabbed their first conference victory of the young season in the matchup by a final score of 67-57.

Northeast (5-4, 1-2 ICCAC) was dominant in the paint Wednesday as they scored 38 points in the paint compared to just 22 for the Lakers. Scottie Johnson (Denton, Texas) led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds in the showdown while Ryan Huston (York, Neb.) and Camden Green (Fort Worth, Texas) combined for 16 points in strong minutes off the bench. Johanes Piscikas (Lakeville, Minn.) and Marcus Coombs (Blackfoot, Idaho) each scored 10 points as well as the Hawks will make the short trip to Sioux City Saturday for a contest with Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on his team picking up the victory Wednesday and who stood out:

"Happy with how the guys played defensively," Clark said. "We didn't rebound well tonight, but we'll fix that. We executed well in the second half and didn't even need to shoot a single 3-pointer. Guys came off the bench and contributed. Camden Green and Ryan Huston were big for us tonight."

Clark on battling Western Iowa Tech on Saturday:

"Saturday will be a dog fight," Clark said. "WIT is good at home, and we'll have to play well to win."

The Hawks will face another conference opponent next as they will take on Western Iowa Tech Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
