SEASON-HIGH 31 POINTS FOR GARRETT PUSHES HAWKS TO VICTORY OVER SPARTANS

CRESTON, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team was on the road Thursday night for a battle with Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. The Hawks grabbed their third-straight victory by a final score of 69-56.

Northeast (6-14, 3-10 ICCAC) has gotten hot over the last week as the win over the Spartans by 13 points marks their largest conference triumph of the season. Vincent Garrett (Lincoln, Neb.) put in a season-high 31 points and tallied seven rebounds as the Hawks led the entire way in the contest. Northeast will have the weekend off before having an opportunity to extend their winning streak to four at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday against Iowa Lakes Community College.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on his squads third-straight victory:

"We've been talking about getting off to a fast start, not necessarily a quick pace, but stops and scores," Clark said. "There's 70-80 battles a game. If we win 75-percent of them, we win. Tonight, our defense was key, turning them over 20 times. Guys are buying in and starting to believe what we're doing."

Clark on how he wants to spend the off week before taking on Iowa Lakes:

"Iowa Lakes is a good team," Clark said. "We'll start scouting them tonight and get to work tomorrow."

The Hawks will compete against Iowa Lakes Community College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
