GARRETT NAMED HONORABLE MENTION ALL-REGION AFTER STELLAR FRESHMAN SEASON AT NORTHEAST

AMES, Iowa – Northeast Community College men's basketball freshman Vincent Garrett (Lincoln, Neb.) was named Honorable Mention All-Region for his performance on the court throughout the 2023-24 season, it was announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Friday.

Garrett arrived at Northeast from Lincoln High School in the fall of 2023 and quickly became a mainstay in the Hawks lineup on the floor. The guard finished in a tie for third in the conference with 16.2 points per game and was 10th in the region with a 50.9-percent field-goal percentage. Garett tallied 454 points on the year and had 23 contests where he scored in double figures.

There were four different showdowns where Garrett recorded a double-double this season, including a performance with 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine rebounds against Southwestern Community College on February 28 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. Garrett had his highest scoring output of the year against Central Community College on February 13 as he scored 32 points in a 115-82 victory for the Hawks.

Northeast head men's basketball coach Josh Clark was thrilled to see Garrett receive recognition for his efforts in a Hawks uniform this season.

"Vince was a guy that we relied on for many aspects of our success," Clark said. "His composure on the floor was unmatched and his leadership was exceptional. His freshman season will propel him to where he desires to play in the future. I can't wait to see what his sophomore season will bring!"
