NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team took on Central Community College Tuesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Hawks dominated both offensively and defensively and cruised to a triumph by a final score of 115-82.

Northeast (10-13, 4-10 ICCAC) shot the lights out of the basketball as they shot 63.2-percent from the field and 55.6-percent from beyond the three-point arc. The Hawks tied their highest point total of the year and held the Raiders to just 85 points on the defensive end. Northeast led by 25 at halftime and led by as many as 35 after falling to Central on the road earlier this season. Vincent Garrett (Lincoln, Neb.) and Bryson Faines (Lincoln, Neb.) both tallied 30 points to give the Hawks their third victory in their last four contests.

    STAT SHEET:

Vincent Garrett (Lincoln, Neb.): 30 PTS, 9 REB, 6 ASTL, 5 STL

Bryson Faines (Lincoln, Neb.): 30 PTS, 7 REB

Jacob Martin (Omaha, Neb.): 16 PTS, 2 REB, 3 AST

    HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Men's Basketball Coach Josh Clark on the big night from his group:

"In the locker room we talked about playing for the guy next to you and not the one in the mirror," Clark said. "It's clicking. Every game the guys are getting more confident and seeing what they can do on the floor. They are trusting each other, especially on defense. The guys are really buying in to what we are trying to sell them, and they are gaining confidence. Right now, we are playing the best that we have played."

Clark on bouncing back from an 18-point loss to Central earlier in the year to win by 33 tonight:

"Our guys were motivated tonight." Clark said. "It's something we talked about almost on a weekly basis just because we were embarrassed by our effort at their place. I didn't have to motivate them much. They were ready and big-time players play in big-time games. Tonight, we had two with Bryson and Vincent having 30. Ben Hammond (Norfolk, Neb.) had two big shots. Kamari Moore (Norfolk, Neb.) played well. Jacob Martin (Omaha, Neb.) had a great game. Bryan Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas) had great boards. It's a team effort and I couldn't be prouder of them."

Clark on jumping back into conference play to face No. 9 Kirkwood on Saturday:

"If this team right now shows up on Saturday, Kirkwood will be a great game," Clark said. "Kirkwood is playing well. Back to work. Work is normal. We'll celebrate this win tonight and tomorrow we'll be back to work. What you do yesterday doesn't matter, it's what you do today."

    UP NEXT:

The Hawks will battle No. 9 Kirkwood Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
