ALEXANDRE AND STORR BOTH EARN DOUBLE-DOUBLES AS HAWKS MEN’S BASKETBALL CRUISES SATURDAY

MASON CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team got back into the swing of things Saturday with a road trip to take on North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa. The Hawks came home with a huge triumph over the Trojans by a final score of 91-74.

The Hawks (8-8, 2-4 ICCAC) trailed 46-45 after the first half in what was a tight contest, but pulled away with ease out of the locker room. Emaniel Alexandre (Nassau, Bahamas) continued to attack the hoop Saturday as his 31 points led all scorers in the ballgame. Alexandre also recorded a double-double as he added 13 rebounds to his box score. Collin Storr (Nassau, Bahamas) joined in on the double-double party as well with 12 points and 12 rebounds that were crucial in the showdown.

Ben Hammond (Norfolk, Neb.) shot 40-percent from behind the arc in the matchup and Northeast as a team grabbed 47 rebounds to just 34 from NIAAC.

Assistant men's basketball coach Junior Denis on everything clicking in the second half:

"Just playing and talking on defense," Denis said. "It helps when Ben (Hammond) is hitting shots and Mano (Emaniel Alexandre) is attacking the basket. From the starters to the bench, everyone played their role."

Northeast will take on Marshalltown Community College for the second time this season at 7:30 Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
