ALEXANDRE HAS 16 POINTS AS HAWKS MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS ROAD MATCHUP

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team traveled to Estherville, Iowa Wednesday to battle with Iowa Lakes Community College. The Lakers took home the victory by a final score of 91-69.

The Hawks (6-7, 0-3 ICCAC) trailed 42-24 at the halftime break as they struggled to stay within striking distance of Iowa Lakes. Northeast was able to make a slight run in the second half as they trimmed the Lakers lead to 55-41, but that was the closet they would get in the showdown.

Emaniel Alexandre (Nassau, Bahamas) was a bright spot for Northeast as he tallied 16 points and 7 rebounds in the ballgame.

Assistant men's basketball coach Junior Denis on his takeaways from the confernece battle:

"Overall, I thought we got better as a team," Denis said. "At the end we played hard, but we didn't have that energy during the whole game."

Denis on finishing the semester strong:

"The key is to get back into the Northeast way," Denis said. "We need to get back to playing at the level that we are capable of. We need to do the little things. I thought in this game we didn't do the little things. We got going so late and we should have been going from the start. We need to get back to going from the start to be a winning team."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will have one final game before break as they will take on Iowa Western Community College at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
