Northeast men’s basketball tops Iowa Central before falling to NIACC

FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team picked up a 91-88 victory over Iowa Central Community College on Friday, before falling to North Iowa Area Community College 105-85 on Saturday at the Great Western Shootout in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Emmette Page (Crystal, Minn.) had another 30-point performance, shooting 8-of-19 from the field, while adding five 3-pointers and four rebounds. He was also 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Australia) added 13 points and seven boards, while Ben Moxness (Scribner, Neb.) had 11 points and Zack James (Norfolk, Neb.) pitched in 10.

The Hawks (4-5) shot 43 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the arc and 79 percent from the charity stripe.

In the loss to the Trojans, Page recorded 31 points, eight assists and six steals. Akuei added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Merrix Denn (Osmond, Neb.) had 11.

The Hawks were held to only 39 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from the three-point line.

The Hawks return to their home court when they face Morningside College JV at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
