FRIES HAS BIG DAY FOR HAWKS IN DOUBLEHEADER WITH WARRIORS

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team was back at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk Saturday for a doubleheader against NJCAA DI Indian Hills Community College. The Hawks dropped Game 1 by a final score of 10-1 and were also topped 9-4 in Game 2.

Northeast (14-12, 0-3 ICCAC) put a run on the board early Saturday as Jack Borgmann (Norfolk, Neb.) blasted a homer way over the fence in left field, but the Hawks were only able to record three other hits in the contest. Eli Johnston (Wahoo, Neb.) tossed 4.1 innings in relief for Northeast while striking out one batter.

In Game 2, Kellen Fries (Cairo, Neb.) had a huge day as the freshman recorded three hits and tallied three RBIs in the showdown. Fries and Kale Jensen (Central City, Neb.) both had doubles in the ballgame while Edgar Hernandez (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) added an RBI of his own.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on the doubleheader:

"We aren't very good right now," Clapp said. "It's pretty simple. We are not doing anything right. We aren't locating and offensively our approaches are terrible. That's why we are 0-3 in the conference. It is what it is. It's not going to change until we figure it out."

Clapp on what needs to be done to get back on the right track:

"It's on them," Clapp said. "I've told them that we can only tell them so much and say the same things over and over again. Until they do what we are asking them to do, this is how it's going to be."
