BEAUMONT RECORDS ANOTHER SOLID START AS NORTHEAST SWEEPS SOUTHWESTERN

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team was again on the road to complete their series with Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. The Hawks triumphed 15-3 to sweep the series and finish the week 5-0.

Northeast (26-8, 10-3 ICCAC) received a fantastic start on the hill from Clay Beaumont (Tekamah, Neb.) as the sophomore allowed just one earned run and struck out seven Spartans batters in five innings of work. Harrison Taubert (Casper, Wyo.) and Kaden Young (Columbus, Neb.) both did what they have done most of the season as they picked up six RBIs between the two of them. The Hawks captured their seventh series win of the campaign and staked their claim to be ranked when the newest NJCAA DII Baseball Rankings are released on Monday.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head baseball coach Marcus Clapp on the afternoon:

"I thought Clay threw well," Clapp said. "We kind of took a few innings off and didn't make a couple of plays we needed to. Overall, we had some guys step up and we were able to pull away!"

Clapp on pulling off an undefeated week:

"Definitely happy with the road sweep," Clapp said. "We will get back to work tomorrow night and get ready for Monday."

The Hawks will host McCook Community College at 2 p.m. Monday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk.
