NO. 12 HAWKS FINISH SWEEP OF LAKERS WITH TOTAL TEAM VICTORY

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The No. 12 Northeast Community College baseball team put the finishing touches on a sweep of Iowa Lakes Community College Saturday with a dominant 15-1 win in Estherville, Iowa. 

Just as they were yesterday, the pitching staff for the Hawks (32-8, 12-6 ICCAC) was lights out on the mound. Dylan Rodgers (Norfolk, Neb.) started the ballgame and went five innings allowing only two hits. Garrett Dudley (Johnstown, Colo.) came on in relief of Rodgers and only gave up a singular hit while Creighton Silvain (Omaha, Neb.) came on in the seventh inning and did not allow any hits. The Hawks in total only allowed eight hits during the three-game set. 

Connor Jeffers (Aubrey, Texas), Harrison Taubert (Casper, Wyo.) and Houston Fogelstrom (Omaha, Neb.) all launched homers in the contest as the Hawks offense was able to throw 15 runs up on the scoreboard.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH  

Head baseball coach Marcus Clapp's thoughts on his team putting it all together on the mound and offensively this weekend: 

"This weekend is definitely a step in the right direction and was needed for some guys," Clapp said. "Like I've said all year, we have a good club in a tough conference and if we go out and take care of ourselves and our business we can play and compete with anyone!" 

UP NEXT  

The Hawks will be back at home to compete against NJCAA Division I No. 8 Iowa Western Community College in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Park in Norfolk.
