NORFOLK, Neb. – Freshman Naomi Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) hasn't had any problems finding the back of the net for the Northeast Community College women's soccer team.
On Friday, Pedroza tallied four goals as the Hawks (6-1) toppled Central Wyoming College 9-0 at the Norfolk Express Soccer Complex in Norfolk.
Pedroza kick-started the Hawks' offense five minutes into the game off an assist from Frida Aguilar-Ximello (Boulder, Colo.) and again a minute later from Mary Perez (Aurora, Colo.). In the 13th-minute, Kahrena Thompson (Jamestown, Colo.) found Pedroza again for the early hat trick.
Londyn Cacciacarne (Layton, Utah) gave the Hawks a 5-0 lead and three minutes later Pedroza tallied her fourth goal of the game, thanks to an assist from Emma Weaver (Lakewood, Colo.). Northeast kept clicking on all cylinders as Danielle Jokerst (Kansas City, Mo.) scored a goal in the 28th-minute.
Prior to halftime, Kyla Ryan (Seymour, Wis.) knocked in two goals, just five minutes apart. In the 52nd-minute, Madison Foutz (Brighton, Colo.) notched the final goal of the night to push the Hawks to victory.
Northeast out-shot Central Wyoming, 21-0.
"I'm glad to see we played as well as we did," head coach Chad Miller said. "We have a few injuries that we were concerned about, so it was good to see us play well as a team and really fill-in where we needed to, and do it well."
The Hawks battle Northwest College at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Memorial Field in Norfolk.
