NORFOLK, Neb. – Tayler Ohu made her presence known on Saturday, scoring two goals and propelling the Northeast Community College women's soccer team over Dakota County Technical College 5-1 in ICCAC play at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
The Hawks (4-4, 4-1 ICCAC) were first on the scoreboard in the first minute of the match, thanks to goal from Ellie Gess. The Blue Knights answered with a goal in the 10th minute, but it was Ohu that found the back of the net two minutes later.
"I felt our girls played a complete game," head coach Chad Miller said. "We controlled our possession and stay composed in front of the goal. Scoring has been a mental block for us this season, but we looked much more relaxed in scoring opportunities today than we have in previous matches. Dakota County has a couple of girls who are dangerous when they have the ball and I felt our girls did a great job of closing them down and not allowing them much space."
Ohu finished with five total shots, while Perez added four. The Hawks out-shot DCTC 24-1.
"I feel this was a good confidence builder for us," Miller added.
The Hawks hit the road on Wednesday, traveling to Hawkeye Community College for a 2 p.m. match in Waterloo, Iowa.
