The Northeast Community College men's basketball team had no problem flexing its offensive muscles on Tuesday night, topping Mount Marty College JV 94-73 at the Cimpl Arena in Yankton, S.D.
The Hawks (7-5) blew the door open in the second half, recording 48 points, while holding the Lancers to just 33.
Northeast went on to shoot 57 percent from the field and 56 percent from beyond the arc.
The Hawks were led by freshman Ben Moxness (Scribner, Neb.) with 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field, including six 3-pointers. Emmette Page (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) tallied 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, while Seth Coatta (Minnetonka, Minn.) added 17 points and seven boards. Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Australia) had 16 points and five boards, while Joel Ufele (London, United Kingdom) chipped in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
"Overall I thought we did a pretty good job at securing rebounds and taking open shots," head coach Dan Anderson said. "We need to keep the momentum going forward against Concordia on Thursday."
The Hawks are back in action on Thursday, taking on Concordia University JV at 7 p.m. in the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
